Kaisa Pitkänen, 57, Project Engineer

Nice colleagues make working fun

Project Engineer Kaisa Pitkänen started working at Vahanen seven years ago. Having worked for several years in construction drawing and as a project secretary, she enthusiastically decided to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering while working. Kaisa considers life to be a continuous development process, and age is not an obstacle to learning. Studying has given her more independence and responsibility for her own work, while comprehensive training in technical building systems has improved her ability to organise, understand and manage complex entities.

Kaisa has enjoyed her time at Vahanen. “The company has a good, encouraging team spirit, nice co-corkers and excellent opportunities for professional development. Various recreational outings and the annual spring and autumn employee events foster enthusiasm and community spirit in such a large group of companies. Every individual is taken into account at Vahanen.”

Kaisa works in a project management unit that focuses on providing management services for reconstruction projects. Kaisa is involved in every stage of the reconstruction process and works together with architects, site foremen and other planners and designers. Her job requires good interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Kaisa plans to continue studying to become a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) expert. She became aware of it when the company sought internal applicants for the certification process. She had already become interested in construction quality when becoming certified as a Lead Auditor. She is currently involved in the team that is in charge of updating the company’s quality certificate.

Kaisa hopes to receive increasingly challenging and responsible tasks in the future, in order to apply her training and experience. “I hope to complete Vahanen’s internal project management certification this year,” Kaisa says.
