Vahanen Academy trains personnel

The Vahanen Group's own training system, Vahanen Academy (Vahanen Akatemia) supports the development of business area and personnel expertise in order to realise the Group's strategic goals and individual development plans.

Goals of Vahanen Academy

  • To strengthen the Group's strategic core expertise and, in turn, enhance the level expertise as a competitive edge.
  • To support the realisation of individual development paths as part of the knowledge management process.
  • To provide professional continuing and supplementary education.
  • To promote the transfer of tacit knowledge within the Group.
  • To support professional development alongside on-the-job learning.
  • To develop work and operations as well as promote innovation.

The Vahanen Academy approach combines learning and instruction. Its instructors include Group experts as well as trainers from outside the company. The training provided ranges from individual short-term sessions to comprehensive long-term training programmes. In the spring of 2010 the Academy provided over 50 training and coaching sessions.

Examples of Vahanen Academy functions

Professional expertise: Asiantuntijat estradilla series, which offers numerous study groups. Senior Advisors appointed within the organisation led the afternoon sessions. The goal is to raise the profile of expert knowledge and transfer it to the next generation of experts using key case projects and career path anecdotes.

Teaching is the highest form of understanding.

Implementation of the Master-Apprentice approach in 2002 opened new doors to development. It also gave Vahanen a human resources award in 2003. The award was granted based on the fact that the project modelled the dissemination of tacit knowledge within a knowledge-based organisation and created common operating models.

Project Passion is Vahanen's way to do projects

Project Passion is Vahanen's own project management model, which allows for the internal qualification of project experts, project directors and senior project directors. Each employee is coached on how to act and work in accordance with the PP model. Qualification involves, among others, compliance with common operating methods on practical client projects as well as the development of one's own project management skills under the guidance of a mentor.
